Ah! That's so sweet you call it a "comforter"! I've never liked the British "duvet" for some reason! I have no idea why we call it a "doona"! I wonder if it comes from "down" as in duck's down? It sounds Scottish to me.
Alternative Australian word - quilt (as in eider down quilt) - even though it isn't.
