quicko: premmericals

Is this happening in America too and I'm just not aware of it?  Since when has it been that when you to the movies there are at least as many commericals (regular, taken straight from TV, bona fide commericals) as previews?  Is it an Australian thing?  A new thing?  I don't like it, whatever it is.

We were just at the movies in the US this past weekend, and I don't recall seeing any commercials mixed in with the previews, except maybe to buy popcorn in the lobby.

It depends on the cinema chain. Some have commercials as well as trailers and others just have trailers and others don't have trailers at all :-0.

It pays to know what your cinema of choice shows as it can affect how early you need to get there to ensure you get into the cinema in time to see the trailers, let alone the start of the movie, after waiting a ridiculous amount of time behind people buying a small supermarket's worth of confectionery at the same time as their ticket. I prefer the cinemas who allow me to buy a ticket separate from the candy bar queue as I can't eat most of the stuff there and wouldn't want to pay the over-inflated prices if I could.
