quicko: eeny meeny miny mo
So I've been informed that this classic children's rhyme is common in Australia -- but instead of "tiger," the Australian version is -- extremely innocently I am vociferously informed -- exceptionally inappropriate by American standards. The emphasis on this particular note is, I am told, the innocence with which Australian children are so very inappropriate. I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions.

quicko: the rabbit rapist ... no, really ...
This story speaks for itself. What it doesn't speak for is the longest, most hysterical conversation I've ever had on ... a Very Serious(ly Bad) Topic.

quicko: can't be what?
I lived in Australia for literally years before it came out that when all this time I thought Australians were just lazy buggers saying they "couldn't be asked" to do anything (as they do quite regularly any time they don't feel like doing something), they were in fact not saying "asked" at all, but were using an extra s instead of a k in the middle. Far be it from me to reproduce their vulgar idioms, but can you believe it?
And to think, I thought they were merely being lazy the whole time.

quicko: tasmania
So, if you don't know, Tasmania is not cool.
Just thought I'd clear that up, because I used to think it was. That was before I learned that Tassie is the West Virginia of Australia.
Like there was a news story here not too long after I came, about a father and a daughter that had got married, or wanted to, or something like that. And they were from Tasmania, and nobody was surprised.
That's all I have to say on that, except there's no way I'm going to tell you what a map of Tassie is. You'll have to figure that one on your own.

quicko: at work
It's amazing how much many Australians swear at work. I remember being shocked in America to hear a colleague of mine pack on the obscenities in the workplace, but here's it everyday practice.
It's not that Australians are swearing out of anger, it's just that these are regular vocabulary words that come out regularly in regular conversation. In fact, it's hardly a complete conversation without one. I mean, where's the drama then?
