quicko: parenting
Someone suggested I address the different parenting styles, but I don't really run in the right crowd to know too many differences. Aside from the fact that most Sydney children have way more freedom than I did at their age -- without a car, I had no choice -- because they can take buses everywhere, not just to school.

That is more a difference of where you lived - suburbs without public transportation - versus city life. Kids living in American cities ride public transportation as much as their parents allow them to. That would be based on age and ability of the child and safety of the route he would travel. I imagine that would be similar anywhere.
