quicko: escalators
They might have these in America now and I've just missed them, but in Australia there's lots of angled escalators. Like the people movers at airports, but tilted so you go up a bit -- like a ramp -- but there's no stairs. Do we have them too?

not that I've run into yet.
They are more commonly found in newer shopping centres (or refurbished ones) where people are likely to have shopping trolleys that don't do well on regular escalators (the ones with stairs).
I think that they are technically called travelators as escalators literally have steps (same root word as for 'scale').
