quicko: WHAT is starbucks doing?!

This is a real live bus I captured outside Wynyard.  What in the world does Starbucks think it's doing?!  Doesn't "coffee jelly" sound like one of the most disgusting substances available?  I can only assume in Australian it doesn't have the sort of oozy, blechy, monthly sort of undertones it does in American ...

I think they must be targeting their Korean friends who love bubble tea. Probably the same concept. I won't be testing that theory, though. :)

I just learned this: Coffee jelly (コーヒーゼリー kōhii zerii) is a popular gelatin dessert in Japan. It has the color and flavor of black coffee, though it is a somewhat translucent gel. It is often cut into cubes and served in a variety of dessert dishes and beverages. Cubes of coffee jelly are sometimes added to milkshakes, at the bottom of an ice cream float, or to garnish an ice cream sundae. Coffee jelly is often added to a cup of hot or iced coffee, with cream and gum syrup added to individual taste. In another rudimentary dish, condensed milk is poured over cubes of chilled coffee jelly in a bowl, and eaten with a spoon.

Monthly? Now I'm worried by what it might mean in the USA.

Bubble tea is quite ok BTW - I tried it in Perth but haven't yet got around to buying from my local place - essentially it's an iced tea with sago or tapioca balls in it.
