quicko: SNAG

Perhaps this is American slang, too, but I don't remember hearing it. I also seem to have missed all the 80s and most of the 90s (oh, okay, and probably a good chunk of the aughts), but it's known here as a "sensitive, new-age guy." That is, a man secure enough to shed a tear or two from time to time ... or perhaps even a bit more.

I've never heard it used in that sense. I think those guys here are often referred to as "Emo" but it's got a bit of a negative connotation. As far as snag, I've heard it in American slang as a verb meaning to get or grab. "Jess was able to snag a new iphone 7". Though by Aussie terms, Jess might be bit of a SNAG.

Emo? Really? I thought that was like alternative in the Hot Topic sort of sense? Here I've heard it used as short for emotional -- as in, when I ponder life deeply I can get a bit emo. Hmmm.

Definitely familiar with snagging, say, chocolate, shotgun, a ticket to PKI, etc. Similar to one definition of score, come to think of it.

And, no. I don't think Jess is a SNAG by Aussie terms. He's macho enough to tear plastic cash, isn't he?
