quicko: age box

On Australian forms, the "check your age boxes" are pretty standard across the nation.  For adults, you are:

18-24
25-34
35-44
45-54
55 or older

Thus, I was a bit shocked to learn (thankfully well after the fact), that I fell squarely in the second box.  I was used to being in the first (young adult, 20-30, 30-40, 40-50 -- Americans tend to let you pick when you're on the "0") but discovered in Australia I had actually entered a new phase of life.

I've seen them commonly like this in stateside. Makes sense really..
18-24 = In college or living at home post college looking for work
25-34 = working stiffs, living alone or with signifigant other, most likely still renting
35-44 Owns home with spouse, home full of babies, dogs ect.
45-54 Same as above only replace babies with teenagers, add in concerns about colesterol and blood preassure.
55 + = Thinking about retirement and have children that qualify for category #1
