quicko: sorry, charlie
An Americanism! It's not said here. My co-worker Pamela tells me it derives from a tuna commercial wherein Charlie who wanted to be a tuna but was told he didn't make the cut: "Sorry, Charlie."

It is from a tuna fish commercial (I think the Starkist canned tuna company), a long time ago. Charlie wanted to make the cut to become a tuna for the company, but instead, he got to live and do commercials for it because only the best tunas made it into the cans. Sorry, Charlie.
Now I remember it a bit better. Charlie always was bragging about what good taste he had, like going to the opera, but the other fish told him, "Sorry, Charlie. Starkist doesn't want tuna with good taste, Starkist wants tuna that taste good."
