In America, kids always bring treats to school for their birthdays; I've been told they do in Australia as well. Adults don't usually bring anything to work, though -- even if they work in a school, for Pete's sake! Thank goodness I work with another American -- who bakes!!

Kim, that dress is beautiful. You are beautiful. Golly, do I miss summer dresses!

Thank you, Gina!! I can't wait for you to see it in person -- it is an absolutely gorgeous dress, AND it swirls SO amazingly!! I walked down the street and thought, "you know, I could think of worse dresses to get married in." :)
Yes for lovely birthday dresses and eating chocolate. Boo for eating alone on your birthday. I should have been there. Someone should have been there. What is this world coming to? Lovely Springy Kimberlys waltzing around with no birthday dinner companions?
It depends on your workplace. In my first job there was a roster to bring a cake for another colleague's birthday. I turned up 3 days before my birthday so another girl volunteered to make my cake.
In my current job (and most of my jobs for that matter) one is expected to bring in a cake on one's birthday; if it falls on the weekend or a day off then one brings in a cake a day before or after.
