quicko: things mom noticed, day 3

--clothing styles are different
--different people wear summer, winter and spring clothes at exactly the same time
--lots of people wear black and other neutral colors
--magazines advertise clothes lines for yards (American subdivisions usually don't allow clothes lines)
--lots of different plants
--ibises (she loves the ibises, not to mention the sea gulls)

Has she had an ibis try to steal her lunch from under her nose yet?

I just don't 'get' the USA propensity (ok, probably only in certain areas) for being shocked at the sight og someone's clean clothes hanging on a line but not shocked when the clean clothes have a human being inside them. Nor do I 'get' the love of higher than necessary power bills required by putting all one's laundry in a clothes drier...but then, I don't have one and I do have access to fresh air and sunshine for the greater part of the year.

Also noticed fewer insects. In fact, windows are left open with no screens and bugs do not come in the house. This is a major difference.

One problem I have had hanging wash out in the U.S. in recent years is the number of bugs that come in with the laundry when it is dry.
