quicko: tea

Tea is a given here.

There's always tea. Coffee, too, but the morning or afternoon event is called tea. (That's morning tea or afternoon tea, not breakfast and lunch.)

It's at work, it's at church, it's at any function or event. Of course no one would be expected to make it through the day without as many cups as they needed. I'm certainly not complaining -- I'm addicted, too.

Just wondering: how does this compare to the British teatimes? Do they actually drink it more frequently in Australia than in England, or is it one of those carry-over customs that just continued on in Australia is striking because it seems so proper (British) in a casual country?

Fairly similar, from my experience. Just happened to notice it here, too. There's a slightly higher chance you'll be asked if you want milk here, whereas I think it's a bit more of a given in England.
