public service announcement: make your own magnum

In the Pitt Street Mall Westfield, there's a little pop-up Magnum store ... with a little pop-up line about 35 minutes long!  At the end of it, you can make your own ice cream dessert, topping it with all sorts of rather up-market topping options (rose petals and sea salt, for instance -- I actually love the sea salt, though it does rather overpower most the other flavors.).  All for the everyday high price of $7 -- which is bad enough and even worse if, like me, you have the misfortune of paying while in conversation and handing over a $20 and a $2 ... and only realizing an hour later you didn't get ANY change.  Sigh.  I would have gone for seconds another time, but I refuse to give them any more money now.

We also have this kind of store in America; the new one in town is Orange Leaf frozen yogurt. They let you portion whatever flavors you want, and add whichever toppings you'd like, then weigh the whole bowlful and the customer pays by the weight of it. Lots of frozen yogurt plus lots of toppings equals a much higher price than small servings. It is really good, though.
