Unfortunately it's a little hard to actually see the amounts that they're selling at these prices ... but trust me, they're still higher than normal in America.
Do you think it's because we don't have the subsidies on agriculture that they have in the US? Or because our minimum wages are higher? Either way, (or if it's something I haven't thought of) it doesn't bother me paying a bit more, if it means that people are being paid sufficiently for the work they are doing.
