Australian children receive morning tea in schools -- my Australian friend was shocked to learn that we were not given a snack around 10:30 in the morning and had to make it all the day until lunch with no sustenance. I was surprised they were given such special treats!
Hello Kim - been enjoying your blog, but just had to say that Australian children rarely get given any food at school, they usually bring it from home, or buy it at the tuckshop/canteen.
ReplyDeleteBut it is true that they get a break of around 20 minutes in the morning, usually at about 11 o'clock, during which time most would eat something that they had brought from home.

Oh, and in the distant past, in my early years of school, we called it "playlunch" - and my uncle continued to call his morning tea playlunch until he retired at the age of 65.
ReplyDeleteHi Caroline! So glad you stopped by, thanks so much for the comments! :)
